Handmade Viking Sword with Twist Pattern Damascus Steel Blade, Brass-Tone Guard & Pommel and Embossed Leather Scabbard
This handmade Viking sword is built in the spirit of the swords carried by Norse warriors in the Viking Age, with a Damascus steel blade, a decorated guard and pommel, and a matching scabbard. The blade is forged from Damascus steel in a twist pattern, where fine, wavy lines swirl along the whole length of the steel. Three fuller grooves run down the center of the straight, double-edged blade, which lighten the sword and give it a clean, classic Norse look. Because the pattern is created in the forge, no two blades look exactly alike.
The guard and pommel are finished in a warm brass tone and carry engraved Norse-style knotwork, so the metalwork looks as detailed as the blade. A curved crossguard sits at the base of the blade, and a decorated pommel closes the handle at the top. The handle is made from natural wood with a deep reddish-brown finish and is set with brass-tone bands that add grip, color and a traditional look.
The sword comes with a scabbard made from dark brown leather, embossed all over with an interlaced Celtic knotwork pattern. The top of the scabbard has a decorated brass-tone mount, and a matching brass-tone tip protects the bottom end. The scabbard makes it easy to store, carry and display the sword safely, so it is ready for a wall mount or a collection from the day it arrives.

A Short History of Viking Swords
The Viking Age is generally dated from about 793 AD to the middle of the 11th century, and during this time the sword was one of the most prized weapons in Norse society. Viking swords were costly to make, so they were usually owned by wealthy Norse warriors and chieftains, and they were seen as symbols of status, honor and loyalty. Many were passed down through families as heirlooms, and swords were often buried alongside their owners, which is one reason so many have been found by archaeologists.
A typical Viking sword was straight and double-edged, with a fuller down the blade, a short guard and a pommel at the end of the grip. Norse smiths were known for pattern-welding, a method where rods of iron and steel were twisted and forged together to make a blade with a wavy, patterned surface. A twist pattern Damascus blade has the same layered, swirling look, so this sword carries on that tradition. The interlaced knotwork on the scabbard and fittings is also in the spirit of Viking Age art, known for its looping, intertwined patterns. This sword is inspired by the blades of those Norse warriors and is made for collectors, history lovers and Viking enthusiasts.
Care Tips
To protect the Damascus pattern, keep the blade lightly oiled and store it in its scabbard in a dry place. Keep the wooden handle and leather scabbard away from water and extreme heat.
